Corporate Law partners Karin Alvo and Melissa Kanô will represent KLA at the IBA Annual Conference 2026, taking place from October 4 to 9 in Copenhagen, Denmark. Regarded as one of the leading gatherings in international law, the event brings together professionals from different countries to discuss global legal, regulatory, and business trends.

On October 8, Karin Alvo will be one of the speakers at the session “Low risk, high impact: mediation for private company disputes,” hosted by the IBA’s Closely Held Companies Committee and Mediation Committee.
The panel will discuss how mediation can be an efficient alternative for resolving disputes in closely held and family-controlled companies, including shareholder deadlocks, business succession, employment disputes, and contractual controversies. It will also address practical aspects such as mediator selection, party preparation, mediation clauses, and strategies to preserve value and business continuity.
Alongside Karin, the session features Pierre-Alexandre Degehet (Kleyr Grasso), Professor Joan Stearns Johnsen (University of Florida), and Zouhdi Yakan (Law House), moderated by Luciana Cossermelli Tornovsky (Demarest Advogados) and Natascha Tunkel (Knoetzl).
