Matheus Cotrim will lead structured finance operations, with a focus on advising financial institutions and infrastructure projects

The Project Finance practice will focus on advising on project finance transactions, working in synergy with other practice areas such as Capital Markets, Bankruptcy and Recovering, Infrastructure and Banking and Finance.

The new partner has experience advising development banks, international financial institutions and commercial banks, including negotiating financing agreements, security packages and other financial instruments, in both domestic and cross-border transactions. He also works on structuring and implementing financial products and credit transactions involving bank credit notes (CCBs), assignments of receivables and guarantees.

Matheus Cotrim holds an LL.M. in Banking and Finance from Queen Mary University of London. During his professional experience abroad, he worked at the international law firms Reed Smith, in London, and Bedell Cristin, in Guernsey. A member of the International Bar Association (IBA), he is also qualified as a Solicitor to practice in England.

According to Henrique Lopes, founding partner of KLA and member of the firm’s Executive Committee, Matheus Cotrim’s arrival reinforces the breadth and the depth of the firm’s practice in projects and financing, in line with its full-service strategy.

“Matheus’s experience in structured finance transactions and complex international deals will help strengthen KLA’s practice in a year of expansion and reinforcement across all fronts of Corporate Law.”
